icon_Tales_red_leather_512It has been a while since any news or a new release for TNDS: Tales from the world of the Noble Dead Saga. A few questions about this have come in over the last few months. Time for a general update on all else as well…

Witches with the Enemy

#fantasybooks, #misttornwitches, #barbhendee, #nobledeadsaga, #nobledeadseries

Hi Gang. I know next May seems a long way away, but links to pre-order Witches with Enemy are popping up at all the right venues, some with special discounts if you order now. JC has added information and current links for this next volume of The Mist-Torn Witches series to our “Books” section at NobleDead.org.

I am really excited about this novel. Celine and Amelie learn more about their growing powers, and fans of the series will learn more about the tense relationship between Anton and his brother Damek than they probably want to know. Hah!

Pop over to the Books section, select The Mist-Torn Witches and then the new book cover to read the synopsis and find the vendor links.

If you need to catch up on how to enter, please see the original notice which contains all instructions and rules. And on that note…

NobleDead.org in Your Email

With so many people living a mobile life and following favored news on smaller portable devices, we have reinstated our “email” option for news subscription. You will find the form in the right sidebar at NobleDead.org. Now you no longer need to cram a newsreader into your phone or tablet.

This is an experiment that links into our old FeedBurner account. We will be looking at other (better) options in the near future to serve this need.

General Update: the future of the Saga, et al

#nobledeadsaga, #nobledeadseries, #misttornwitches, #nobledeadtales, #barbhendee, #jchendee

S3B3_usa_512We’ve turned in the latest manuscript for the next to last book in the Noble Dead Saga — S3B4: First and Last Sorcerer. A lot has happened in our lives over the last season, so this is the first time in 13 years that we have missed a deadline. No one panic, as the release date remains firm. As always, the next book will debut the first week of January in 2015.

The saga’s final book is already titled. S3B5: The Night Voice will bring you and the heroes to the great mystery’s end and the final climax. After that…

The Mist-Torn Witches, Raffle #3—AND THE WINNER IS…

MW1Johnathan Perez wins the third and final signed paperback first edition of MW1: The Mist-Torn-Witches. Even now, Johnathan’s prize is on its way to his doorstep.

This concludes the current series of three raffles for signed volumes in the new Mist-Torn Witches series by Barb Hendee (set in the world of the Noble Dead Saga). Once again, we wish to thank all of you who joined in. Another raffle for free signed books will come in the future, perhaps at or just after the end of summer.

S3B3_usaFor now, it is time for Barb and J.C. to settle in on another volume to come in the Noble Dead Saga.

Remember that there is already a new Noble Dead book in the publishing process even now. Stop by NobleDead.org to learn about S3B3: A Wind in the Night.

The next volume in the Mist-Torn Witches series is coming as well. We will have more news on that over the summer.

The Writer’s Corner: Authors and Their Books (and other Fairytales from the Internet)

J.C. here to introduce Barb’s new entry in this article series. You might think the internet’s rapid growth makes information more accessible to all. “Information” is not the same as “fact” or “truth.” Add in that the amount of misinformation (and disinformation) is growing exponentially, and the internet now empowers rumors like nothing else before it. It is probably not surprising to any of you that there are people who actually think those rumors are true… a fact.

All of this applies to what some readers think about authors and their works. Worse so, now that the e-self-publishing craze is approaching critical mass. Perhaps too many (or more) think all authors are now self-publishing every work that appears for sale on the Internet.

Does anyone look at the publisher of the works they purchase? Do they realize that the author is separate from what is listed there? Okay, so a lot of the e-self-publishers are faking that part with a made up imprint or house in order to look like a professional publisher produced the “product,” but still…

Here is a little tale from Barb concerning a reader who came across a listing for the coming first book in The Mist-Torn Witches series. The topic of Barb’s post might even become the first in a subseries about myths concerning authors and their works. I hope not too many of you are surprised by what we (still) hear about how people think we authors work and play…

Noble Dead Raffle #6 — NOW CLOSED!

S3B2_red_ribbon_thumb214The current raffle for a signed hardbound first edition of S3B2: The Dog in the Dark ended as of midnight last night. Hopefully all of you got your entry in before the deadline.

The winner selected via use of Random.org has been notified via email and has 48 hours to respond with verification of shipping address. If no response is received, a new winner is selected and verification repeats. Come Monday we should have either a winner to announce or notification of a redraw process. And now…

Tales Update, and What’s to Come

HW5_Tales_Logo_1284We have not done a general update since before the first of the year for “Tales from the world of the Noble Dead Saga.” There are a few changes to come, though they will not affect our current readers.

One thing noticed is that though these privately published short stories and novellas are doing fairly well, their readership is pretty limited to fans of the Noble Dead Saga. We would like to see Tales reach a slightly broader audience. We do our best to make them accessible to anyone, including those who have never read any volume of the saga. And so, some changes will be made to Tales “packaging” where coming works are concerned…

“Tales” and What’s to Come…

HW5_Tales_Logo_128It has been a while since we did an update on “Tales from the world of the Noble Dead Saga.” Time for a little catch-up on this and a few other Noble Dead related topics. As previously mentioned before S3B2: The Dog in the Dark hit the shelves, we told our publisher we would not release any “tale” during the month before (and after) the release date of a new book in the saga. As we near the end of that window, here is what is coming…

Update? What Update?

S3B2_usaWell, let us be honest: we do not really have anything new to share, but…

It has been over a week since we lifted our bleary eyes from the keyboards… or took a break from chasing Cinders and Ashes out of the artificial holiday tree we put up but have not yet decorated.

We were waiting on the ornaments until we taught the “sisters” not to climb indoor trees since we do not let them climb the outdoor type. And they are getting big(!) at just past seven months. We took an hour last night to bend all of the artificial tree’s branches back into place. That should also tell you how successful we have been in cat training after trying every trick in the book. Oh, and that includes the old lemon trick and cat’s hating the scent of it sprayed on anything. J.C. repeatedly misted the whole tree in a 50/50 mix of lemon juice and filtered water… and the sisters did not even flinch as they hit that tree in a run and a leap the first time… the second time… the third time… sigh…

BE2The only real thing going on around our office is grinding away on the draft for S2B3: The Wind in the Night [working title] while we wait for S3B2: The Dog in the Dark to hit the real and virtual shelves. The winter holiday season is upon us, so only another 5+ weeks to go… before both the new release and that new manuscript has to be in our editor’s hands.

With all of that and then some, there has been no time for other projects like more “Tales,” finishing changes on the websites, the Noble Dead “Codex” project, or even a quick boardgame or something. We MW1_usashould also remind all of you that, as planned, there will no new releases in Tales from the world of the Noble Dead Saga around the release of a new book in the Noble Dead Saga. So no new Tales until after January, but yes, there are more to come. Also, down the road, we may need to do the same thing when Barb’s new Mist-Torn Witches series debuts. And before anyone asks, changes to the websites will be finished once J.C. has time to breath… and the free ebook Codex of the Noble Dead World is still on his to-do list.

We will leave off here and hope all of you have had a good start to the holiday season. Please do not get trampled in the stores! We will back to you again when we have some actual news to share… or when we realize it has been too long yet again.

Coming May 2013: The Mist-Torn Witches

MW1_usaSome of you may have already heard of Barb’s new series, and she’s excited about this one. The Mist-Torn Witches is set in the world of the Noble Dead Saga, but it is autonomous from those books and stands on its own. Now we have a little something to share with you.

The first volume is titled after the series as a whole, and this will be an entirely new dimension to the world, with new characters to meet in the dark and dank land of Droevinka. So come follow the sisters, Céline and Amelie Fawe, as they strive to survive in a land where noble houses openly and secretly vie to control the throne of Grand Prince.

All information and on-going news for The Mist-Torn Witches series will be available through both NobleDead.org and BarbHendee.org. Makes sense, yes? So stay tuned… there’s more to come in future months as we approach the debut of a whole new set of adventures from Barb.
