Noble Dead Raffle, Week 2: NOW OPEN!

Xmas_S2B3It’s time again, folks, so get your entries in and have a book shipped straight to your door from the publisher. This is all in celebration of the holidays and the the coming January release of S3B1: Between Their Worlds, which begins Phase/Series 3 of the Noble Dead Saga. So why not take a shot at an extra present.

There are only five books left to be awarded over the coming weeks. [Open only to participants in the USA.] Instructions are reiterated below, along with answers to recently submitted questions.

Please note that since all books will be sent directly from the publisher, Barb and J.C. are not be able to sign them.  After an announcement via NobleDead.org (echoed to all subscribers and venues linked to our site’s RSS newsfeed), anyone in the USA can enter by submitting the following information through the site’s Contact page:

Name: [First and Last in full]
Email: [where winners will be notified]
Subject: Noble Dead Raffle
Message:  Street Address, City, State, Zip Code

NOTE: Barb and J.C. have full control of all participant information; you will not be added to any form of mailing list.

The deadline for receipt of entries in week 2’s raffle is Sunday, December 11, Midnight, PST. The following Monday, one random winner will be notified via email and announced (by name only) through the site and its newsfeed. Winners may not re-enter a following contest, as we want to spread the prizes around. The publisher will be notified as well, and the winner can expect to receive the prize within a week to 10 days (unless otherwise notified). So get your entries in quick!

Q: Why do we submit an address with our entry? Shouldn’t that be something only the winner does?

Providing an address serves two purposes for your entry. First, it helps us to further distinguish that only one entry exists per person. Second, it expedites processing the winner’s award; instead of requesting an address, and then re-verifying it again by email for certainty and accuracy, one step is cut out of that process.

Q: What happens to the entries for those who do not win a particular raffle?

They are deleted. Only a winner’s entry is retained until (1) we are certain an awarded book arrives safe and sound, and (2) as record of who won one of the size raffles. Winners are excluded from entering a subsequent drawing in this particular series. Once all six raffles are complete, all winners entries are deleted. Barb & J.C. have direct control of all entries, and no one will be added to any form of mailing list.

Q: Do I have to re-submit an entry in a following week’s raffle if I did not winner the current raffle?

Yes. All raffles are handled separately to minimize work for Barb & J.C. and their small volunteer staff. This is a busy time for the pair, since they are even now nearing completion of the first draft on the next book to come. It’s just easier this way.

Q: Exactly how do you choose the winner?

Once submissions are closed Sunday, at midnight, the following Monday morning, Barb & J.C. count them, assigning each a number in the order they were received. A random number in the total range is then generated to determine the winner. The number is generated by a true randomizer at Random.org.

Let the fun begin! The second week’s raffled is now open.  All entries must be made by Sunday 12/11/2011, midnight, Pacific Standard Time.
