Official site for the high/dark fantasy books of authors Barb Hendee and J. C. Hendee, including the Noble Dead Saga (a.k.a. The Noble Dead series), the Mist-Torn Witches series, the Vampire Memories series, and TNDS: Tales from the world of the Noble Dead Saga.

A Little Tale on Works in Progress…

HW3_Tales_Logo_128J.C. and Barb received the copyeditor’s notes for S3B2: The Dog in the Dark and are going over that whole manuscript now while working on the next one already in the planning process (S3B3, untitled as yet). Needless to say, the scramble is on, though that’s always the way of things this time of year. Mid-summer and over the year’s end holidays are always hectic. Still no finalized version for the cover of S3B2, but as soon as that is officially settled, we’ll share it with you.

Tales from the world of the Noble Dead Saga

The next entry, scheduled for August (as listed on the Tales page at NobleDead.org), will be Bones of the Earth, II: Karras the Cat by J.C. Needless to say, it might push back to the second week in August, as work on the saga itself always takes precedence. J.C. has extra stuff on his desk, as well, such as managing online presence(s) and web systems, and designing covers and compiling these short e-stories. He also manages all interactions with our online vendors for these works.

When we first launched the “Tales” project, we published a handful of entries more quickly than planned. We’ll lean back to the original schedule of one per month to six weeks. Also, as mentioned before, there will be no “Tales” releases during the 30 days before and 60 days after the release of any volume in the Noble Dead Saga. That is also a busy, busy time of year for us. Though a new book is finished and will be produced by our publisher to hits the shelves around the first of the new year, work on the next volume for the following year becomes even more hot and heavy behind the scenes.

The Mist-Torn Witches

Barb turned in the revision (based on editor’s notes) for the first volume in her new series, which bears the series name as its title. This series is set in the world of the Noble Dead Saga, specifically the nation of Droevinka (Magiere’s original homeland) with all of its dark superstitions and strange politics around the great noble houses always vying for control of the throne of the Grand Prince.

There may be a few old faces and names pop up that appeared in S1B3: Sister of the Dead, but no main characters from the saga are part of this autonomous series. You’re going to meet new characters that are definitely different than those of the saga. More to come on this as things develop. Information for the books in this series will eventually be listed at both NobleDead.org and BarbHendee.org.
